Exquisite carving   Very good condition for its Antique age
A very good example of  mourning jewelry commemorating the death of a loved one
This subject has very sensual features including lovely curly hair, wonderful face--
even a beauty mark on her left cheek.  Her skin has a lush glow!
The mounting is a simple gold band in very good shape--a little discoloration
where the band is connected, much darker in the photos than actually is
The mounting looks like gold but is not marked
The barrel clasp has a replacement hinge on the pin--possibly needs professional repair
The outer edge has 2-3 small fleabite marks, mostly by the pony tail area--
otherwise very good condition
Was purchased in Germany in late 90's
Large in size   Measures 2 3/8 x 2 x 1/2 inches  Weight 39.7 grams
